12 Days in the Venice Laguna

Cristina and I were in Venice to attend the 75. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica, a cultural extravaganza culminating with the assignment of the Leone d’Oro award, (Golden Lion), a trophy in the shape of the traditional lion of Saint Marc, appointed by an international jury of movie professionals. Renowned film director Guillermo del Toro was this year president of the panel.

Ok. England and Wales have decided to leave the EU. Good for them. Have a safe journey. Enjoy the view.

The World will no longer be the same place. Not that the World has been bursting with health lately. Europe looses a reluctant member. The (formerly-United) Kingdom looses affiliation to one uneasy club. Maybe two. Read more “Just Leave!” →

The New Antinori’s Wine Caves In San Casciano

The look is unobtrusive but powerful, something you could envision more in a James Bond’s movie than here in a tuscan winery, forget blazoned, let alone that it’s working since over 600 years ago (the first Antinori vintner dates back to 1385), forget a turnover of 185 million euro with a net profit of 34 million (balance 2014).

One’s adequate reaction could only be… Wow! (more about this in this story) Read more “The New Antinori’s Wine Caves In San Casciano” →

Centre Pompidou Malaga

Opened to the public March 28th 2015, the new museum is due to an agreement between Malaga’s Mayor Francisco De La Torre Prados and Alain Seban, president of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The agreement determines – in exchange for the use of the name, the loan of 70 artworks and a temporary exhibition to be staged once a year – the payment of a million euros per year. A very reasonable fee, given the circumstances («Viaggi Sport Vacanze»).

(«Viaggi Sport Vacanze»)

The Black Diamond

When it was planned an extension to the Royal Library in Copenaghen, libraries had already started to be looked at as obsolete objects, pressed by a technology that was transforming them in sanctuaries for mould and paper parasites. Action was required to shake some dust off a century-old institution consigned to oblivion. (These images have already appeared in a story on «Viaggi Sport Vacanze»)
