A fellow photographer – a more experienced and clever professional than I am – once commented that my photographs are “right”. She meant that they are well exposed, well framed, well focused, but they are nothing more than this. They are “just” right for the job.

It’s not that I am content with the terminology or that I won’t do here and then try to get something more from cameras and optics, but the definition suits my pictures well.

All the way, that’s what it’s needed to illustrate the journey across this part of my life: roads that I take, events that I witness, people I meet…

Emotions I feel.

Most of these works appeared on my other, more wordy blog, «Sulla punta della lingua», containing comments and notes on books, movies and relevant issues of today’s life, or on «Viaggi Sport Vacanze» where I share my views with Cristina on places, arts, sports and our life in general.

Eventually, this is what it’s pushing me to do what I’m doing: to keep my cameras fed with picture opportunities and stuff.

And that’s propelling me to do much more stuff than I’d do otherwise.

This blog used to be bilingual. Since most people commenting and acknowledging to have passed through are from outside the country, although it isn’t my native language –neither it was Joseph Conrad’s, after all… – I have resolved to persevere with the impudence of writing solely in English.

Una fotografa che conosco – una professionista più esperta e capace del sottoscritto – una volta sentenziò che le mie foto sono “giuste”. Voleva dire che sono esposte correttamente, a fuoco e ben inquadrate, ma niente più di questo. Sono appena giuste per quello a cui servono.

Non che l’attributo mi soddisfi né che non proverò, qui e là, a ottenere qualcosa di più dalla mia attrezzatura fotografica, ma la definizione calza a pennello.

In fondo, questo è quanto mi serve a illustrare il viaggio che è questa parte della mia vita: strade che piglio, eventi a cui partecipo, persone che incontro…

Emozioni che provo.

La maggior parte delle immagini è già apparsa sui miei altri blog: «Sulla punta della lingua» che contiene opinioni su libri, film, e fatti salienti della vita, e «Viaggi Sport Vacanze», dove condivido con Cristina impressioni su luoghi, arte, sport e sulla nostra vita in generale.

Alla fine proprio questo mi stimola a fare quello che faccio: alimentare l’obiettivo con immagini e tutto il resto.

E mi spinge a fare molto di più di quanto non farei altrimenti.

Scrivo in inglese perché la maggior parte delle persone che si manifestano nei commenti o nel loro apprezzamento appartengono chiaramente a culture diverse dalla mia e l’inglese è un conveniente punto d’incontro per tutti.
